Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a full-time Hyperbaric Medicine professional for our Fort Lauderdale facility. The role includes performing HBO therapy, ensuring safety standards, and acting as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer within the department.

Responsibilities include confirming diagnoses suitable for HBO, implementing physician orders, educating patients and families about therapy, and maintaining accurate treatment documentation.

Qualifications

• Credentialed or licensed in Florida in one of the listed areas.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of Hyperbaric Medicine policies and procedures.
• Verify diagnosis is approved for HBO Therapy and entered in charts/records.
• Implement physician orders per treatment plan.
• Educate patient/family on HBO therapy benefits, risks, and safety.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring as ordered.
• Inspect patient for safety prior to HBO treatment (dress code, no makeup, etc).
• Perform HBO treatment and monitor patient during therapy.
• Dressings/wound care within scope as needed and assist during low HBO volumes.
• Take serial wound photos to report progress.
• Evaluate outcomes and consult with manager/physician to adjust treatment.
• Consult with hyperbaric physician on adverse reactions.
• Document treatment notes and maintain records.

Description:

Full time position in Hyperbaric Medicine Dept.

Will also work as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer.

What you will do:

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Hyperbaric Medicine.
• Ascertain that the patient's diagnosis is one of the appropriate approved disorders for HBO Therapy, and that the said diagnosis is clearly entered on the patient's charts/records.
• Implement the physician's orders as indicated by the patient's treatment plan.
• Educate patient and/or patient's family as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy prior to treatment.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring as ordered and indicated by patient diagnosis.
• Inspect the patient prior to the commencement of each HBO treatment to ensure all safety standards are being adhered to, i.e. 100% cotton attire, no makeup, no hairspray, etc.
• Perform the HBO treatment and monitor the patient during therapy.
• Perform dressing changes and/or wound care within scope of practice, as ordered and participate in clinic when HBO volumes are below par.
• Take serial photographs of the wound for reporting of the patient's progress.
• Evaluate the patient outcome and meet with the manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment as necessary.
• Consult with hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions.
• Document treatment notes and maintain patient treatment/diagnostic records.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a credentialed or licensed in the state where working.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.

Licensure:

Current Florida state license or certification is required in one of the following areas:

1. National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

2. Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician

3. Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)

4. Registered Nurse

5. Emergency Medical Technician

6. Certified Hyperbaric Technologist

7. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent

8. Surgical Technologist
