Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a full‑time Hyperbaric Medicine clinician to administer HBO therapy and ensure patient safety.

The role includes verifying diagnoses for HBO eligibility, following physician orders, educating patients about risks and benefits, and documenting all treatments and outcomes. Applicant must be licensed in Florida with at least two years in Hyperbaric Medicine preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be credentialed or licensed in the state where working.
• Minimum of two years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of Hyperbaric Medicine policies and procedures.
• Ensure diagnoses are approved for HBO therapy and recorded in patient charts.
• Implement physician orders per treatment plan.
• Educate patients and families on HBO treatment benefits, risks, and safety.
• Monitor blood glucose as ordered.
• Inspect patient safety before HBO treatment (attire, hygiene, etc.).
• Perform HBO treatment and monitor patient during therapy.
• Conduct dressing changes and wound care when within scope.
• Take serial wound photographs for progress reporting.
• Evaluate outcomes with manager and hyperbaric physician and adjust treatment as needed.
• Consult with hyperbaric physician on adverse reactions.
• Document treatment notes and medical records.

Description:

Full time position in Hyperbaric Medicine Dept.

Will also work as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer.

What you will do:

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Hyperbaric Medicine.


• Ascertain that the patient's diagnosis is one of the appropriate approved disorders for HBO Therapy, and that the said diagnosis is clearly entered on the patient's charts/records.


• Implement the physician's orders as indicated by the patient's treatment plan.


• Educate patient and/or patient's family as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy prior to treatment.


• Perform blood glucose monitoring as ordered and indicated by patient diagnosis.


• Inspect the patient prior to the commencement of each HBO treatment to ensure all safety standards are being adhered to, i.e. 100% cotton attire, no makeup, no hairspray, etc.


• Perform the HBO treatment and monitor the patient during therapy.


• Perform dressing changes and/or wound care within scope of practice, as ordered and participate in clinic when HBO volumes are below par.


• Take serial photographs of the wound for reporting of the patient's progress.


• Evaluate the patient outcome and meet with the manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment as necessary.


• Consult with hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions.


• Document treatment notes and maintain patient treatment/diagnostic records.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a credentialed or licensed in the state where working.


• Minimum of two (2) years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.

Licensure:

Current Florida state license or certification is required in one of the following areas:

1. National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist


2. Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician


3. Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)


4. Registered Nurse


5. Emergency Medical Technician


6. Certified Hyperbaric Technologist


7. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent


8. Surgical Technologist
