Job summary

Baton Rouge Clinic is seeking a Licensed Histology Technician/Histotechnologist to perform routine and complex histologic procedures preparing tissue specimens for pathologist review. The role includes gross examination, dissection, fixation, processing, embedding, and staining under supervision in accordance with protocols and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, possess or be eligible for state licensure, and demonstrate

Qualifications

• Current state histology license (if required by state law).
• ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred or required (per employer).
• Demonstrated competency in histology techniques and grossing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, and process surgical and biopsy specimens.
• Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
• Prepare routine (H&E) and special stains as required.
• Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures as applicable.
• Maintain proper specimen identification and integrity throughout workflow.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Document procedures, results, and corrective actions per lab policy.
