Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA seeks a histology professional to receive, accessions, and process surgical, biopsy, and autopsy tissue. You will embed tissues, stain slides, and assist Pathologists and Residents in the gross dissection room.

Role requires a Bachelor's in histotechnology or related field, ASCP certification, and LA licensure; duties include quality control, education, and collaboration with staff to ensure accurate results.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, chemistry, physical science, medical technology, medical laboratory science or clinical laboratory science.
• Certification by the ASCP as histotechnician/histotechnologist/cytotechnologist/ medical laboratory scientist (or equivalent).
• Louisiana license as a clinical laboratory scientist.
• Excellent judgment and communication to interact with staff and physicians.

Responsabilidades

• Properly orient tissue in paraffin medium and prepare slides for special procedures and routine processing.
• Assist in gross dissection and embedding of specimens; maintain QC logs and reagents.
• Manage workload and respond to requests within 24 hours; maintain equipment and safety procedures.
• Provide ongoing education to laboratory staff and support supervisor and pathologists as needed.
• Support quality control and problem-solving in the department.
