CHS Children's Hospital and Health System, Inc. is looking for an Occupational Therapist who will provide direct patient care within pediatric settings. Job Summary

Provides direct patient care in Occupational Therapy and performs related duties to ensure the smooth, coordinated operation of the department within pediatric inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings. Identifies, diagnoses, and treats patients with a wide variety of disabilities and counsels patients, families, and other medical professionals involved with the patient's rehabilitative needs.

Essential Functions

• Supports the mission and strategic objectives of the hospital; engages in teamwork and enhances the image of pediatric Occupational Therapy.
• Develops and implements programs for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients that address growth and development affecting physical functioning.
• Provides occupational therapy evaluations and re‑evaluations, completing required competencies.
• Delivers ongoing occupational therapy treatment.
• Counsels and trains parents to incorporate treatment goals into the home environment and participates in care‑management meetings.
• Maintains written records: evaluation reports, daily treatment notes, plans of care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and insurance authorizations.
• Works collaboratively with Financial Clearance to obtain necessary insurance authorizations and submits all clinical requests promptly.
• Maximizes use of equipment, supplies, and time; participates in hospital cost‑containment efforts and pursues third‑party reimbursement.
• Coordinates discharge planning, makes referrals, and monitors progress via phone, letter, or fax for all children evaluated or previously enrolled in therapy.
• Contributes to individual and departmental productivity and facilitates prior authorizations for treatment.

Education, Experience & Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy – required; Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy – preferred.
• 1+ years clinical experience in the pediatric field of Occupational Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council – required.
• National Board Certified Occupational Therapist (NBCOT) – required.
• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) – required within one year of hire.
• State of Wisconsin OT license – required.

Position Details

• Full‑time, five 8‑hour shifts, Monday‑Friday; long‑term plan includes weekend rotation.
• Location: Milwaukee Main Campus.
• Ideal candidate has experience with burn and complex wound care and will serve both inpatient and outpatient populations.
