Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief OT, the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an occupational therapist with a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. The CHT has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. The role requires an advanced understanding of hand/UE anatomy, research principles, and treatment techniques. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, treatment, and ongoing evaluation of care for a diverse hand/UE patient population. The CHT provides education and support to patients and families, covering all phases of care including prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and caregiver training. The CHT works effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Education

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Experience

At least 5 years as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).

Licensure and Certification

• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Massachusetts.
• Certified Hand Therapist by Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC).
• Preferred: Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• BLS healthcare provider certification required.
