Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with healthcare, geriatrics, caregiving, or elderly population preferred.
• Must have CMA certification.
• Must have CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have TB clearance.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have aptitude for dementia-related situations.
• Must maintain accuracy to prevent errors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medication and treatments as ordered by physician in accordance with policy and procedures.
• Verify identity of resident before administering medication.
• Follow hand-washing policy and infection control standards.
• Order medications, supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Remove expired medications from cart and resident areas.
• Maintain accurate medication records for your shift.
• Review medication sheets for completeness and accuracy.
• Report discrepancies to your supervisor.
• Chart and document important events as required.
• Assist with admit, transfer and discharge of residents.
• Review charts for treatment and diet orders as needed.
• Notify nurse changes in resident condition.
• Maintain clean, sanitary work areas.
• Show courtesy and positive attitude to residents and visitors.
• Report accidents and suspected abuse promptly.
• Support activities of daily living and social development.
• Assist with light housekeeping and dining-related tasks.
• Follow supervisor directions to uphold Residents' Rights and licensing rules.
