Job summary

Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM, is seeking a Certified First Assistant (CFA) to join our One OR team for general surgery, bariatrics, orthopedics and urology procedures. You will aid surgeons with patient positioning, tissue handling, hemostasis, and wound closure, ensuring patient safety and optimal access.

Minimum qualifications include CSFA and BLS, with an Associate's degree preferred. This FT day shift role offers comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities within

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's Degree preferred; graduate of a program in discipline required.
  • Licensure/Certification: CSFA certification with NBSTA.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient to optimize exposure for the surgical procedure and maximize comfort and safety.
  • Provides visualization of the operative site using tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suction and irrigation.
  • Assists with hemostasis, both temporary and permanent, during surgery.
  • Assists with body plane closure, wound dressings, and drainage systems.

Department/Unit Summary

Join our team in a 12-bed OR unit, located on the 1st floor, where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of RNs, CSTs and FAs. You will play a crucial role in assisting our patients in general surgery, bariatrics surgery, orthopedic and urological procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How you'll contribute:

A Certified First Assistant who excels in this role:

  • Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
Shift:

6:30A-3:00P or 6:30A-5:00P or 6:30A-7:00P 8s,10s, or 12s

  • Education: Associate's Degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
  • License: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
