Job summary

Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Scheduler to manage patient testing, admissions, and registrations. You will obtain authorizations, verify insurance details, and communicate with physicians, patients, and staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates have healthcare scheduling experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. This is a full-time, on-site role in Las Cruces, NM with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; at least 3 years of related experience may substitute for education.
  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred; medical terminology, billing, and/or collections experience is preferred.
  • Computer experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient testing, procedures, and admissions; obtain pre-cert/authorization numbers and enter into scheduling or registration systems; collect and enter insurance information; answer incoming calls.
  • Schedule all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures/admissions, ensuring availability of staff.
  • Inform patients or office staff of out-of-network carriers or any benefit reductions; communicate special instructions or testing requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of scheduling reports for next-day operations; coordinate with registration and testing to ensure appropriate staffing and timing.
  • Obtain physician orders and authorization; enter outpatient procedures in Order Entry System.
  • Ensure consistency between scheduling and admissions modules for patients admitted for services.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Schedules patient testing/procedures/admissions; obtains pre-cert/authorization numbers and enters in the scheduling or registration system; obtains and enters accurate insurance information; answers incoming phone calls
  • Schedules all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures/admissions, ensuring that patients are not scheduled when personnel are unavailable.
  • Informs patient or physician's office staff of any carrier that is out of network or any issue that may result in a decrease of benefits.
  • Informs patient or physician's office staff of any special instructions or testing requirements, and/or provides any other pertinent information or documents.
  • Maintains knowledge of the scheduling reports for the next day to ensure patient registration staff are aware of patients presenting for services; appropriate testing is performed; time is available; appropriate staff are available for testing or procedures to be performed.
  • Obtains physician's orders and authorization/pre-certification. Enters outpatient procedures in the Order Entry System.
  • Ensures consistency between scheduling module and admissions module, for patients being admitted for services.
What we’re looking for
  • High school diploma or equivalent Required or at least three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education.
Work Experience
  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred. Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred. Computer experience required
Skills
