Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center seeks an experienced echocardiography technologist to perform comprehensive echocardiograms (2D, M‑Mode, Doppler, TEE, stress echo) under supervision in a high‑tech setting.

You will identify patients, maintain safety, and support QA, while preparing worksheets and coordinating with physicians for interpretation and billing. Previous hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program preferred
• Current American Heart Association ACLS preferred
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association required
• RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) required
• Experience with equipment including Philips ie33 and EPIQ, TEE probes (to include the sterilization process), and Epic preferred
• Typing and computer skills preferred
• Work Experience: 1 year hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assures proper patient identification and safety.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patient.
• Demonstrates understanding of universal precautions.
• Demonstrates understanding of role in fire and disaster.
• Participates in mandatory programs
• Maintains organized and clean working environment.
• Completes forms/records/logs accurately and maintains logs/records for procedures completed for billing.
• Prepares echocardiographic worksheet for physicians review and interpretation.
• Supports department Quality Assurance process through accurate, timely and complete data collection.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and maintains positive professional relationships with peers, physicians and customers.
• Is able to complete assignments independently, to work as a team and can take instruction from supervisors, patients and vendors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
• Respects chain of command to drive outcomes.
• Demonstrates knowledge to respond to STAT calls and prioritize orders.
• Demonstrates technical proficiency in all echo procedures.
• Uses critical thinking to assist with patient views for care/treatment.
• Manages supplies and forms within the budget.
• Participates in required and continuing educations and mandatory education requirements.
• Responsible for patient preparation including NPO status, transport, electrode placement, IV, EKG monitoring, privacy and confidentiality.
