Job summary

Petco is hiring a Certified Dog Trainer to enhance the bond between pet parents and their dogs. You will deliver one-on-one sessions and group classes, provide personalized training plans, and engage guests with 360-degree solutions for training needs and pet care guidance.

You will participate in a structured 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program and collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to support holistic pet health. Weekend and evening availability is required.

Qualifications

• Passion for animal care, training and welfare.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pet parents.
• Demonstrated ability to handle dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds safely.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and store operations.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed for training schedule.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide World Class Dog Training Services, including organizing sessions and DTIP-based instruction.
• Complete and apply ongoing training programs to maintain expertise.
• Recommend and sell appropriate dog training classes, training and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions and feedback from pet parents.
• Engage with guests to offer 360-degree solutions for their pet care needs.
• Support store operations by ensuring merchandise is displayed and stocked appropriately.
