Job summary

Petco is hiring a Certified Dog Trainer to advance our mission as a Pet Health and Wellness company. You will provide one-on-one training, group classes, and guidance on basic training, environmental management, and customized plans to meet goals.

You’ll engage guests with 360-degree solutions for pets and pet parents, offer recommendations on nutrition, services and essential supplies, and collaborate with teams to deliver a holistic wellness approach.

Qualifications

• Passion for animal care, training, and welfare and a genuine interest for improving the lives of pets and their pet parents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pet parents and provide clear instructions and selling techniques.
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and breeds safely and humanely.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and schedules.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift training equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide world class dog training services and complete the 6-week Instructor Program.
• Sell appropriate training classes and supplies to ensure client success.
• Keep accurate records of training sessions and progress.
• Collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to provide holistic care.
• Support store operations and promote teamwork and a positive culture.
