Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a skilled Dog Trainer to enhance pet health and happiness by applying modern training techniques and positive reinforcement.

You will conduct one-on-one sessions and group classes, guiding pet parents and addressing specific goals with customized plans. You’ll engage guests with holistic solutions, recommend appropriate merchandise, and work with grooming and veterinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Passion for animal care and welfare.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes safely.
• Strong organizational skills and multitasking.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one training sessions and group classes.
• Recommend and sell training classes and supplies.
• Maintain training records and track progress.
• Collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to support holistic care.
• Adhere to operational guidelines and safety procedures.
• Promote a positive, collaborative culture among staff.
• Complete ongoing training to remain an expert in the role.
