Job description

Join to apply for the Certified Coding Specialist role at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.

Analyzes and codes multi-specialty professional surgery cases performed in the OR (including but not limited to: General Surgery, Plastics, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Otolaryngology) by reviewing documentation and confirming coding compliance with regulatory standards.

Identifies trends or problems in medical documentation and recommends solutions. Assists with billing and documentation through daily interactions with physicians regarding CPT and ICD-10 coding inquiries.

Responsibilities
  • This is a fully remote position.
  • Analyze and code multi-specialty surgical cases, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Identify documentation trends and problems, suggest solutions, and support billing processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) or CCS--Physician-based (CCS-P).
  • Minimum 5 years of CPT and Diagnostic coding experience in healthcare or third-party payer settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
