Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for Body Combat with certification or equivalent experience. Part-time, on-site at North Suburban YMCA, reporting to the Health and Wellness Director.

The role requires a current group exercise certification (NCCA accredited preferred) and a minimum of one year of experience in group fitness. Compensation ranges from $30 to $45 per hour, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in a group exercise setting.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally certifying body (NCCA accredited preferred).
• If teaching a specific format, current certification required (e.g., Yoga, Spin, Body Pump, Body Combat).

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by supervisor.
• Answer participant questions to support health and well-being goals.
• Maintain wellness knowledge through YUSA courses and external training.
• Build authentic relationships with members and connect them with the YMCA.
• Adjust approach for varied health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Celebrate participant achievements related to goals and skills.
• Keep accurate class attendance in MotionVibe Group Exercise Management software.
• Follow YMCA policies and respond to emergencies.
• Resolve member issues professionally per YMCA values.
