Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist I to perform diagnostic, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal vehicles, ensuring safety and quality. You will deliver excellent customer service through the repair process, guided by CarMax principles.

Requirements include CarMax orientation, data-reading, and multitasking in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. ASE certifications are preferred, with hours that may include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of CarMax New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for record-keeping.
• Strong multitasking skills to perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk long periods; flexible to nights/weekends/holidays.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills including active listening.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and complete mechanical and cosmetic repairs on all vehicle systems.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and complete state inspections when required.
• Manage repair orders, ensuring accuracy in labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Utilize proprietary and universal software systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace following CarMax 5S standards and safety protocols.
• Provide leadership and functional expertise to support associates and managers across the store.
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
