Job summary

First-Steps-Recovery is seeking an AODC Counselor to coordinate and provide individual counseling and group sessions for residents in care settings. The role includes intake assessment, developing care plans, and collaborating with the treatment team to guide progress through the continuum of care.

The counselor will document progress, support discharge planning, and participate in weekly team meetings. Knowledge of KIPU is preferred and certification in addiction counseling is desirable.

Qualifications

• Preferred AA or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Behavioral Health
• Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certification Desired (CCAPP/CAADE/CADTP or Affiliate)
• 1–2 years experience in addiction and mental health or equivalent human services work preferred

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce First Steps Recovery standards, policies and procedures, resident rights, and professional ethics.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices.
• Develop person-centered care plans with prioritized problems and measurable objectives.
• Prepare comprehensive progress notes, discharge plans, and transition summaries.
• Intervene during crisis situations and coordinate with the treatment team.
• Coordinate with health insurance utilization reviews and provide documentation as needed.
