Job summary

Phoenix House California is seeking an Alcohol and Drug (AOD) Counselor to support adults and adolescents in residential and outpatient services. The position requires a high school diploma with a registered AOD credential from DHCS; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Some positions may require weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and DHCS registration as an AOD Counselor.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred for advancement or scope.
• Experience with MS Office and medical record systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee initial assessments and treatment plans with other service teams.
• Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention as needed.
• Facilitate group-based treatment sessions and validate progress.
• Maintain clinical records, documentation, and billing-related notes.
• Coordinate with medical staff and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
