Job summary

Goodwill SF Bay is seeking a Reentry Program Manager to lead and expand reentry programming, directing a team and setting strategic direction for services to justice-involved individuals. You will oversee career coaching, assessments, and job placement, while fostering partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies.

The role reports to the Director of Career Services and collaborates with the Mission Advancement leadership to achieve outcomes and growth.

Job description

The Reentry Program Manager is responsible for running and expanding our reentry programming. The Reentry Program Manager leads a team and the strategic direction of reentry programming designed to provide services to clients returning to communities after experiencing incarceration and/or barriers to employment, and clients on their path to achieving self-sufficiency.

The Reentry Program Manager will oversee a team providing intensive career coaching, assessments and job placement and retention services to justice involved individuals. Responsibilities will include growing our program’s footprint, building strong partnerships with community-based organizations, local and state government agencies, and industry leaders. They will also develop and cultivate public and philanthropic partnerships that support Goodwill’s mission. This position will collaborate closely with the Mission Advancement leadership and reports to the Director of Career Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recruit, hire, and supervise a diverse team of leads, Career Advisors, and direct service staff
• Develop best practices, processes, and tools for staff in the areas of work readiness, career advising, job development, referral, and retention services
• Develop and implement employer engagement strategies that lead to career pathways for clients in reentry
• Develop outreach strategies for community partners, employers, and clients in the reentry field
• Oversee grant contracts which fund career services and employer engagement activities including progress towards contract goals, collaborating on program reporting, and spenddown strategies
• Participate in external committees and strategic partnership networks
• Establish and maintain employer advisory councils
• As a member of Goodwill’s Mission Advancement Leadership Team, accurately present issues that impact your ability to achieve maximum results, provide recommendations, problem solve and implement solutions to achieve outcomes.
• Work with staff to develop related performance objectives and measurements to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting
• Identify and create opportunities for professional development and growth for staff
• Develop new programing and work closely with our development team to fundraise
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have a growth mindset and a passion for helping people continuously improve
• Be a strong relationship builder, collaborator, and communicator with experience leading diverse teams, developing an enterprise-wide strategy for program excellence, and engaging community
• Understand the criminal justice system and Fair Chance Ordinances in the counties that Goodwill operates in
• Understand the various stakeholders in the justice system at the local, state, federal, probation & parole level
• Understand the employment needs of diverse groups; able to adapt materials and services to address these needs
• Respect and have knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own; able to work effectively with all
• Have demonstrated experience working on successful workforce development programs
• Have strong problem solving and cross-functional, cross-departmental, relationship management skills
• Have a working knowledge of databases (i.e. Salesforce, Workforce Central, CalJOBS), well-developed data analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage computer operations and applications
• Be detail-oriented, strong research skills, and an avid advocate for data quality
• Have strong project management skills such as planning, documentation, execution and implementation –ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement
• Present a professional demeanor with the ability to exercise discretion and judgment in confidential matters
