Job Overview:

The Central Supply Technician performs daily activities related to decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical supplies and equipment, including case carts. The technician assists department supervisors in coordinating daily work to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Attend hands-on in-service and seminars related to Central Sterile Processing
• Be current in instrumentation, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, sterilization, packaging, and sterile supplies
• Maintain current knowledge in all areas of Central Sterile Processing

Preferred:

• 1 to 3 years of Central Sterile Processing experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certification by IAHCSMM or the Sterile Processing board, as mandated by the New Jersey State Department of Health
• Maintain certification with CEUs

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, 5 am - 12 pm
• Per Diem

Essential Functions:

• Read and write alpha and numeric data accurately
• Consider surgical procedures, nursing needs, and equipment procurement
• Interact professionally with departments, personnel, and physicians
• Accept new responsibilities and learn duties of the position
• Assist SPD Supervisor with staff orientation and training
• Distribute medical supplies and equipment
• Work effectively under pressure in a high-volume department
