Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a Central Sterile Supply Tech to join our team. You will inspect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize instruments and patient care equipment in accordance with national guidelines and hospital policy.

Responsibilities include operating departmental equipment safely, providing service to all departments, and documenting sterilization processes, with routine antimicrobial and disinfection testing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize instruments and patient care equipment per guidelines (AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA).
  • Operate departmental equipment daily per manufacturer instructions with safety emphasis.
  • Provide customer service to all departments with focus on patient needs.
  • Process and document sterile supplies and equipment using indicators to verify sterility per hospital policy.
  • Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing as per instructions and documentation.

What we're looking for

Central Sterile Supply Tech Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.

How you'll contribute

Central Sterile Supply Tech who excels in this role:

  • Provide inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operate departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provide customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs.
  • Process and document all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Schedule: Full Time: Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM -6:00 PM and on call Friday - Sunday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
