Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
• Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
• Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
• Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
• Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solution testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred); Central Sterile Technician (CSR) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Must have central sterile experience.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
