Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Central Sterile Tech to support the operating room with sterile processing, instrument handling, and specimen coordination. The role involves preparing the sterile field, assisting with patient positioning, and passing instruments to physicians during surgeries.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and certification in BLS; ACLS/PALS within six months; ASLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required.
• ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
• Experience of 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures equipment and instruments are in good working order.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and tracks instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
