The University of Iowa is seeking a dedicated Central Service Technician on 2nd shift for the Medical Center Downtown campus in Iowa City. The role involves decontamination, sterilization, and inventory management of surgical instrument trays with emphasis on quality and safety.

Successful candidates will work on a full-time schedule, with potential for an additional opening at another campus location. Contact Ingrid Gustafson for questions.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent with coursework in physical and natural sciences and mathematics.
• One year experience in a hospital-related field that would provide a background in medical environment or sterile technique as it applies to medical supplies and equipment.

Responsabilités

• Decontaminates, inspects, cleans, sorts, disassembles and reassembles instrument trays; operates washers; performs microbicidal processes and follows safety controls.
• Assembles instrument trays to procedure cards; documents missing items; works in a high-stress environment and supports urgent add-on cases.
• Performs sterilization, packaging inspection, equipment operation and proper documentation; verifies parameters for all instruments.
• Manages inventory for supplies and implants; restocks items and notes expiration dates in the inventory system.
• Performs biological monitoring of sterilizers; conducts challenge tests and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Participates in in-service programs and performs other duties as assigned.
• Physical ability to move 25 lbs, push/pull and perform repetitive motions.

Formation

High school graduation or equivalent

One year hospital-related experience
