Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Central Shops Area Coordinator to support maintenance services across campus shops. You will assist supervisors with planning, prioritization, and scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinating resources and materials to ensure work is scoped and completed efficiently.

The role emphasizes safe, expeditious service with minimal disruption to teaching and research, using the AIM CMMS to manage work orders, backlog, and preventive maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Assist Central Shops Supervisors with planning, prioritization and scheduling of maintenance across campus shops.

  • Support work order flow and backlog management using the CMMS (AIM) and help ensure safe, efficient service delivery.

Inclusive Excellence Statement Advertised Job Summary This position supports the effective delivery of maintenance services by assisting Central Shops Supervisors with the planning, prioritization, scheduling, coordination of preventive, and corrective maintenance across assigned campus maintenance shops. This position helps ensure maintenance work is properly scoped, resourced and materials are identified in advance, schedules are coordinated with campus partners, and work is completed safely, efficiently, expeditiously, and with minimal disruption to teaching, research, and daily campus activities. The Central Shops Coordinator serves as a key point of coordination among supervisors, skilled trades, area maintenance teams, Facilities leadership, customers, contractors and campus stakeholders. Through effective use of the CMMS (AIM), this role supports work order flow, backlog management, preventive maintenance compliance, outage coordination, service delivery, and continuous improvement.

  • Must have the ability, solve problems, take initiative to provide services, develop strong customer relationships.
  • Must have the ability to measure cost and performance, keep accurate records, communicate effectively, develop proper procedures.
  • Must have the ability to define actions to resolve specific problems situations, communicate to management, and prepare reports.
  • Must be able to plan, direct and review work.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to interface and work well with subordinates, peers, outside departments and other business professionals.
  • Must have ability to operate computer systems and their respected software for providing facility management reports.
