PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under supervision, performs work in central service involving decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical devices, equipment, supplies, and instrumentation according to prescribed procedures. There are two levels within this role; all personnel perform related work.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Involves all patient care areas using sterilized instruments, especially OBGYN, Surgery, Podiatry, Dental, Eye and Vision, Pediatrics. This is an off-site position at Metropolitan Hospital but operates under Gotham's Gouverneur purview.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Level I: Documented designation as a Grandfathered Central Service Technician.
Level II: Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) or Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD). All new hires must have one of these certifications and be assigned at Level II. Continuing education credits are required annually.
Certifications: Hold and maintain a Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Sterile Processing Technician credential.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma and Central Sterile Certification.
Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of sterilization processes, equipment operation, and a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
