Optum Infusion Suite, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Central Scheduler to join our team. The Central Scheduler is responsible for completing set processes and protocols, working cooperatively with all care team members to support the organization’s vision and mission, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes. They support the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, hours to be determined by the supervisor between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Location: 90 South Bedford Road, Third Floor, Mount Kisco, NY 10549

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize electronic medical record functionality to obtain accurate patient information, such as name, address, insurance, medications, and authorizations.
  2. Knowledge of infusion scheduling based on medication treatment plans and standards of care.
  3. Maintain spreadsheets for medication inventories.
  4. Answer incoming and outgoing calls from specialty pharmacies, clarify prescriptions, and obtain delivery dates.
  5. Adhere to Optum Employee Policies as outlined via Sparq.
  6. Work cohesively with team members to achieve goals.
  7. Stay current on medical requirements, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  8. Work effectively in a high-paced, complex environment.
  9. Participate in care planning and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  10. Ensure continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, documented through notes and case conferences.
  12. Follow administrative policies to ensure quality care.
  13. Cross-train and assist in other locations as needed.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • Advanced proficiency with computers, including MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EPIC).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with chemotherapy scheduling and treatment cycles.
  • Pharmacy technician experience.
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
