Role Summary:

This role involves performing Schedule+ functions for physicians and patients, such as insurance verification and pre-certification for scheduled services at an HCA Facility. The coordinator makes and receives calls to schedule services, demonstrating a commitment to quality customer service for patients, physicians, co-workers, and the public.

Role Responsibilities:
Insurance Authorization/Verification
  • Complete insurance verification accurately.
  • Obtain necessary insurance authorizations, referrals, and treatment consults prior to services.
  • Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews between physicians and insurance companies.
  • Secure benefit coverage details and enter information into the system.
  • Gather diagnosis and CPT codes from physicians or outpatient departments.
  • Maintain proficiency with verification systems and payor eligibility programs.
  • Monitor work lists for timely insurance verification.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory documentation requirements.
Scheduling
  • Make outbound and handle inbound calls to schedule imaging services.
  • Document scheduling notes in hospital and Centauri systems.
  • Provide patients with preparation instructions.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff for timely, appropriate scheduling and excellent customer service.
  • Manage email inboxes and fax communications effectively.
  • Respond to voicemails and maintain a log of scheduled patients and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Communicate operational activities effectively within the team.
  • Interface courteously with internal and external customers, maintaining a positive organizational image.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assigned responsibilities and understanding of the Patient Access process.
  • Suggest process improvements for the Schedule+ Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service experience in office or hospital settings.
  • Experience in high-volume call centers preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or two years healthcare scheduling/billing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows).
