Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a Sterilization Technician to sterilize instruments following established protocols and support hospital operations. You will participate in in-service education, maintain organized work areas, and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.

This full-time, day-shift role requires attention to detail, the ability to work with a team, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Training is provided, and benefits start from day one.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical or Vocational School training preferred.
• Experience in sterilization or hospital support preferred.
• Ability to read and document Biological results.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes instruments following established protocols.
• Assembles instrument trays accurately.
• Documents procedures and maintains thorough records.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Floats to other units as needed based on patient and census requirements.
• Returns sterile instruments to their proper location.

Job Description

Sterilizes instruments following established protocols. Participates in in-service education programs and training. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Assembles instrument trays accurately. Documents procedures and maintains thorough records. Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and sterilized. Collaborates with team members to support hospital operations. Stocks patient care equipment efficiently. Handles specimens properly and ensures their correct disposition. Reviews and recommends changes to policies and procedures. Floats to other units as needed based on patient and census requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Returns sterile instruments to their proper location.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Able to accurately identify instruments
• Ability to operate Steam Sterilizers
• Ability to operate Washer Disinfector
• Accurately read and document Biological results.
• Properly clean patient care equipment
• Ability to accurately identify specialty instrumentation
• Ability to accurately process complex instrumentation
