Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, Kansas is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to assemble, sterilize, and stock surgical instruments. You will decontaminate, organize, and deliver sterile equipment to the operating rooms while following safety and infection-control policies.

The role requires strong instrument knowledge, ability to operate sterilizers, and a High School diploma or higher with preferred associate or technical training.

Qualifications

• Must have instrument identification accuracy and safety focus.
• CPR/BLS certification is required.
• Ability to operate steam sterilizers and washer/disinfector.
• CBSPD or CIS certification is preferred.
• Education: high school degree required; associate or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and arrange instrument trays and sterilize per protocol.
• Return sterile instruments to designated locations and maintain sterile stock.
• Assist with decontamination and clean to operating room staff.
• Monitor sterilization equipment functionality and report issues.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Job Description:

Assembles and accurately arranges instrument trays. Sterilizes instruments following established protocols. Returns sterile instruments to their designated locations. Stocks and maintains patient care equipment. Manages the decontamination process for surgical instruments. Communicates with operating room staff to assist with instrument turnovers. Handles the cleaning and sterilization of vendor instruments. Supports operating room staff with patient positioning and transportation. Monitors and ensures the proper functioning of sterilization equipment. Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed. Adheres to safety and infection control policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
