Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Center Store Department Lead to support the Center Store Department Manager. You will lead your team with care and purpose, ensuring guests feel welcome and that each department looks its best. You’ll coach, teach, and stand in as acting manager when needed to keep operations running smoothly.

This role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and excellence, with opportunities to influence merchandising, inventory, and guest experiences across the store.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.
• Strong leadership to develop high-performing teams.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experience while meeting performance goals.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Monitor labor schedules to meet productivity and budget goals.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, minimize shrink, and support ordering processes.
• Serve as a resource for team members and provide guidance when the manager is absent.
• Model and coach hospitality by engaging guests and creating positive experiences.
• Assist in implementing merchandising strategies and promotional plans to maximize sales.
• Analyze department financial and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with department leaders to drive store success.
• Use available technology to perform tasks.
