Job summary

Children’s Harbor in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Manager in Training to oversee the Center’s daily operations, ensuring compliance with licensing, accreditation, and agency policies. The role partners with the Center Director to drive program quality, health and safety, and financial stewardship while engaging families and staff to deliver strong educational outcomes.

The position emphasizes leadership, operational excellence, and community outreach to advance enrollment and quality care for children.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in early childhood education or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Lead Teacher role.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in childcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Center/Program Quality: improve all areas of the center.
• Health and Safety: maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Leadership: guide and motivate staff to achieve goals.
• Management: prioritize time to achieve meaningful results.
• Decision Making: identify problems and choose timely solutions.
• Communication: engage staff, children and parents effectively.
• Interactions: build positive rapport with parents and children.
• Financial Management: manage staff hours, wages and billing.
• Marketing: raise center visibility and enrollment.
