Job summary

Lake Worth Beach is seeking a Cemetery Sexton to oversee daily cemetery operations and maintenance, ensuring a respectful environment at the city's cemeteries. The role requires supervising staff, coordinating burial services, and maintaining safety and accuracy in records.

This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits, a 40-hour work week, and an hourly wage of $24.87–$33.33 under the PEU agreement. On-site office location is the Public Works Grounds Office in Lake Worth Beach, FL.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
• 2–4 years of cemetery and grounds keeping experience with some supervisory or lead experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience considered.
• Ability to manage cemetery operations and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, supervise and perform cemetery maintenance, burial prep and related tasks.
• Maintain plots according to maps and oversee grave locations.
• Keep administrative records of lot sales, burials and grave locations.
• Perform minor monument maintenance and assist with service scheduling with funeral directors.
• Operate digging equipment and assist with lowering caskets.
• Communicate with the public and respond to grievances professionally.
