Job summary

City of Lake Worth Beach is seeking a Cemetery Sexton to oversee two city cemeteries and related facilities. The role focuses on safe, respectful maintenance, burial preparation, and recordkeeping under general supervision.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, 40-hour weeks, located at the Public Works Grounds Office. Benefits include leave accruals, holidays, and retirement plans, with union bargaining under PEU.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an associate degree preferred.
• Some supervisory or lead experience in cemetery/grounds work is expected.
• Experience with clerical recordkeeping and basic financial tasks is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform cemetery maintenance activities and burial preparations.
• Oversee daily operations of the cemeteries and related facilities.
• Schedule graves, coordinate with funeral directors, and manage records of burials and lot sales.
• Operate cemetery equipment for digging graves and lowering caskets as needed.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and a dignified environment for visitors.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
