Job summary

Archdiocese of Los Angeles seeks a Groundsworker for Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles. This full-time, non-exempt role supports interment activities, maintains cemetery grounds and buildings, and covers 40 hours weekly with overtime as needed.

You will operate backhoes, prepare graves, trim memorials, mow and clean, and assist priests and funeral directors as required. Requirements include a valid driver’s license, basic education, and on-the-job training in landscaping equipment; experience with

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and automobile insurance.
• General education sufficient to understand and observe written and oral instructions.
• Previous grounds-care experience is helpful.
• On-the-job training for lawn maintenance and landscaping equipment, excavation safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in interment/entombment and site preparation.
• Trim memorials and maintain cemetery grounds.
• Operate cemetery equipment and vehicles.
• Perform janitorial and grounds maintenance.
• Assist funeral attendees as needed.
• Maintain safe handling of cemetery property and equipment.
