Job summary

Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries is seeking a Grounds Maintenance team member to perform routine and complex landscape care and support funeral service operations at our California locations.

Responsibilities include operating grounds equipment, applying lawn treatments, planting and pruning, and assisting with interment space maintenance, while delivering respectful service to visitors and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance as required by state law.
• Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, accountability, and ability to work independently within procedures.
• Shows capacity for leadership, autonomy, and responsibility.
• Stays informed of Forest Lawn standards and safety considerations.
• Ability to operate lawn care equipment safely; knowledge of mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and herbicides.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, debris removal, and hedge trimming.
• Safely operate grounds tools and equipment such as trimmers, blowers, vehicles, and motorized gear.
• Apply fertilizers, wetting agents, and herbicides following safety procedures.
• Prepare and plant landscape plants, trees, install sod, and prune small trees.
• Provide directions and assistance to visitors and assist with interment space maintenance.
