Job summary

Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, OH is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker to maintain cemetery grounds, mausoleum, and funeral home locations. You’ll perform maintenance, locate grave sites, assist with interments, and ensure safe, respectful surroundings for guests and families.

This full-time role requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift 75 lbs, and 6+ months of grounds maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6+ months of grounds keeping and/or maintenance experience required.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and maintains lawn, walkways, and memorial markers.
• Lays sod and trims around trees, walkways, and markers.
• Moves and removes flowers to and from chapel and graveside.
• Blows leaves and grass; edges with a stick edger.
• Clears debris and keeps drives and walkways safe.
• Cleans ponds and fountains; performs hand digs/trenching.
• Assists with gravesite preparation and burials.
• Snow removal and salting; facilities cleaning and minor repairs.
• Loads/unloads caskets; vehicle and golf cart washing/cleaning.

Sunset Memorial Park is looking for a Cemetery Caretaker to join our team in North Olmsted, OH where we offer a passionate and purpose-filled work environment. The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass.
• Maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers
• Lays sod
• Moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside.
• Blows leaf and grass
• Edges with stick edger
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.
• Cleans ponds and fountains
• Hand digs/trenching
• Assist with gravesite preparation
• Assist with burials
• Snow removal and salting
• Facilities Cleaning:
  • Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.
  • Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor repairs, painting, etc.
  • Assists in loading and unloading caskets.
  • Vehicle and golf cart washing/cleaning

• 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Monday - Friday; occasional Saturdays and Mother's Day)
