Job summary

SRM Concrete (Smyrna Ready Mix) oversees cement terminal operations, ensuring safe handling, loading/unloading, and efficient inventory management. The Yard Team Member supports daily terminal activities, maintains equipment, and upholds safety standards.

This role emphasizes collaboration with drivers, customers, and team members in a fast-paced environment. Work includes outdoor conditions, lifting up to 50 pounds, operating forklifts and conveyors, and adhering to safety policies to maintain

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs and work at heights.
• Able to work outdoors in dusty/noisy environments and varying weather.
• Must wear PPE and respirators when required.
• Basic computer and communication skills are helpful.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload bulk cement from trucks, railcars, and silos.
• Operate terminal equipment such as conveyors, pumps, forklifts, and other machinery.
• Monitor product flow and storage levels for efficient operations.
• Perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Keep accurate records of shipments, inventory, and activities.
• Follow OSHA, safety policies and environmental procedures.
• Maintain clean and organized terminal through housekeeping.
• Support inventory counts and stock reconciliation.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, vendors, and team members.
• Assist with emergency response procedures and report safety concerns.

About the Opportunity

The Cement Terminal Team Member is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of cement products at the terminal. This position supports daily terminal operations, including loading and unloading bulk cement, operating equipment, maintaining inventory, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

Your Mission & Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload bulk cement from trucks, railcars, and storage silos.
• Operate terminal equipment, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, forklifts, skid steers, and other material-handling equipment.
• Monitor product flow and storage levels to ensure efficient terminal operations.
• Perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting operational issues and report equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and operational activities.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental procedures.
• Keep the terminal clean and organized through routine housekeeping.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock reconciliation.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, vendors, and team members.
• Support emergency response procedures and report safety concerns immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are a plus.
• Ability to operate forklifts or other heavy equipment (or willingness to become certified).
• Basic computer and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
