Job summary

Settlement Music School in Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated cello teacher to join our Suzuki Tapestry Strings program. The role offers afternoon/evening and some Saturday teaching hours, with opportunities for professional development and support for certifications.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in cello performance or education, a master’s degree preferred, and 3–5 years teaching young students. This is a part-time position at our Mary Louise Curtis and Wynnefield branches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music performance or music education with a concentration in cello.
• Master’s degree in music performance or music education with a concentration in cello, or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years teaching experience, including experience teaching young children.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Director to enroll in Suzuki certification programs if needed and progress through levels.
• Foster a positive learning environment and establish rapport with students and families.
• Attend Annual Faculty Meeting (paid).
• Attend Monthly Tapestry Faculty Meetings (paid).
• Engage in the overall work and mission of Settlement Music School.
• Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in music education.
