Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Process Development Scientist for cell therapy process development in Frederick, MD. The role is contract, on-site, and involves designing experiments, executing bench studies, and applying DOE to optimize CAR-T and related processes.

You will analyze data, prepare technical reports, maintain documentation, and collaborate with MSAT, Manufacturing, and Quality to support late-stage development and transfer activities in a GMP environment.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in biological sciences or related field.
• For BS, 5+ years post-degree industry experience in process development.
• For MS, 3+ years post-degree industry experience in process development.
• For PhD, 2+ years post-degree industry experience in process development; postdoctoral experience alone is not sufficient.
• Experience in cell therapy/process development.
• Experience using JMP or similar statistical tools for DOE.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and execute cell therapy process development experiments with limited supervision.
• Translate objectives into experimental strategies, protocols, and study plans.
• Apply DOE and structured approaches to evaluate parameters and performance.
• Perform hands-on studies for development, optimization, and characterization of cell therapy processes (CAR-T and related).
• Analyze data, identify trends, and draw scientifically supported conclusions.
• Troubleshoot issues and recommend follow-up studies or process adjustments.
• Prepare rigorous study reports with methods, results, statistics, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Develop and maintain protocols, batch records, and documentation for transfer and knowledge sharing.
• Present results to Process Development and cross-functional teams clearly.
