Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks a Process Development Scientist to lead cellular engineering within the Investigational Cellular Therapy group. You will collaborate with preclinical, GMP manufacturing, analytical development, quality, and regulatory teams to advance pipeline programs.

Responsibilities include designing complex processes, data interpretation, and preparing reports for publications and regulatory filings within a GMP environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Immunology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or 5–10 years of relevant experience).
  • PhD in Immunology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or 10+ years of relevant experience).
  • Able to independently design and perform experiments of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Experience with aseptic tissue culture and flow cytometry.
  • Experience with genome editing techniques (CRISPR/Cas9, base editing, etc.).
  • Experience with GMP‑compatible or automated cell processing platforms and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute complex process development efforts using genomic and epigenomic engineering tools.
  • Analyze and present data clearly to internal and external groups.
  • Author and review proposals, SOPs, and technical reports.
  • Maintain data integrity and GMP‑compliant records.
  • Support technology transfers and implementation of new process technologies.
  • Collaborate on IND‑enabling studies and GMP manufacturing campaigns.
