Job summary

Solid Power is seeking a Cell Slurry Engineering Intern to join our team developing next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. You will work with Scientists and Engineers to execute planned experiments and support cell design and process development.

This on-site internship in Denver is 15–20 hours per week during the fall semester. You will gain hands-on experience with polymer characterization and battery materials, using DSC, Rheometer, DMA, and FTIR, while following all safety

Qualifications

  • Experience with rheology, EIS, SEM/EDS, DSC/TGA, and particle size analysis is a plus.
  • Safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment required.
  • DOE knowledge with relevant software experience.
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation and failure modes preferred.
  • Experience in testing/validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery cells preferred.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Execute planned lab experiments with Scientists and Engineers.
  • Support cell design and process development; focus on polymer characterization.
  • Use DSC, Rheometer, DMA, and FTIR for analysis.
  • Perform mechanical tests such as peel adhesion and mandrel bend.
  • Communicate results and propose formulation improvements.
  • Maintain records, data collection, and accurate reporting.
  • Follow safety rules at all times.

Job description

Solid Power is seeking a Cell Slurry Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate is currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies focused on engineering, chemistry, or related fields.

Job Duties
  • Work closely with and under the direction of Scientists and Engineers to execute planned experimentation in the lab and on pilot production equipment.
  • Support cell design & process development efforts throughout the product development cycle with a specific focus on polymer characterization and optimization.
  • Utilize analytical instruments including (but not limited to) DSC, Rheometers, DMA, and FTIR.
  • Run mechanical testing such as peel adhesion and mandrel bend.
  • Communicate results and make recommendations for future experimentation or formulation improvements for our electrolyte and conductive slurry recipes.
  • Support lab experimentation through data collection, data analysis, diligent maintenance of records, and accurate reporting of data
  • Follow facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations at all times.
Qualifications/ Requirements
  • Experience in material characterization techniques including rheology, EIS, SEM/EDS, DSC/TGA, and particle size analysisis a plus.
  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
  • Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience.
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
  • Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk .
  • May need to lift to 50 pounds on occasion .
Hourly Compensation

$25/hour

Schedule

15-20 hours per week during fall semester
