  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field.
  • Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
  • Safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, TGA, DSC, rheometry, etc.) is a plus.
  • DOE fundamentals with software experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance and failure modes preferred.
  • Experience with testing/validation of Li-ion cells preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Position Overview

Solid Power is seeking a Product Development Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‑generation, all solid‑state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‑paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

Job Duties
  • Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the lab and production scales.
  • Support electrode fabrication by mixing and hand casting electrode slurries.
  • Support slurry development by collecting and analyzing rheological data and making recommendations for future iterations.
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience.
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Enrolled at least in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field.
  • Must have experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
  • Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, TGA, DSC, rheometry, etc.) is a plus.
  • Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Li‑ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
  • Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full‑face respirator or PAPR.
Hourly Compensation

$25/hour

Schedule

15-20 hours per week during fall semester and up to 30 hours per week during the summer.

Employment in this position is conditioned on the continued availability of government authorization to authorize the release of such items, to the extent required, including without limitation an export license, or other documentation required to establish authorization to receive access to such items.
