Job summary

Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join our team of engineers and scientists advancing next-generation solid-state batteries. You will support lab-scale experiments, perform analytical measurements, and document results under senior engineers' supervision.

Ideal candidates are undergrad or grad students in engineering, chemistry, or related fields, with strong communication, quick learning, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials in a glovebox
  • Knowledge of materials chemistry is a plus
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

  • Run experiments at the lab bench scale under engineers' direction
  • Conduct analytical measurements following SOPs

Job description

Position Overview

Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‑state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‑paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

Job Duties
  • Work closely with and under the direction of engineers to run experiments at the lab bench scale
  • Execute analytical measurements following provided SOPs
  • Documentation and analysis of results with supervision of senior engineers
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations

  • Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology, etc.) is a plus

Education and Experience
  • Enrolled at least at a junior level in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field
  • Experience with materials synthesis and analysis a plus
Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full‑face respirator or PAPR
  • Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms
Hourly Compensation

$25/hour

Schedule

15-20 hours per week during fall semester
