Job summary

Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join a team of engineers and scientists advancing all solid‑state rechargeable batteries. The role targets undergraduates or grads in engineering, chemistry, or related fields.

You will assist engineers in bench experiments, follow SOPs, and document results while ensuring safety in the lab. The position emphasizes collaboration in a fast‑paced startup environment, with 15–20 hours per week during the fall semester and an hourly compensation

  • Experience with materials synthesis and analysis a plus

Position Overview

Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‑paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

Job Duties
  • Work closely with and under the direction of engineers to run experiments at the lab bench scale
  • Execute analytical measurements following provided SOPs
  • Documentation and analysis of results with supervision of senior engineers
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials in a glovebox and associated equipment (required)
  • Knowledge of materials chemistry is preferred and a plus
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Rapid learner and self‑motivated who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative start‑up environment

Education and Experience
  • Enrolled at least at a junior level in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full‑face respirator or PAPR
  • Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms
Hourly Compensation

Hourly Compensation: $25/hour

Schedule

Schedule: 15-20 hours per week during fall semester
