Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or related field.
  • 4–8 years of hands-on bioprocessing or biopharmaceutical development experience.
  • Experience with mammalian stable cell line generation is required; CDMO experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mammalian cell line development and upstream process activities.
  • Utilize DoE for experimental design and data analysis.
  • Coordinate CLD workflows with downstream, analytical, MSAT, manufacturing and QA teams.
  • Present findings in internal and client meetings and author technical reports.
  • Maintain accurate lab records and perform root cause analyses when needed.

Job description

Job Title: Cell Line Development Scientist
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Department: Process Development
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

As a Cell Line Development Scientist, you will support the development, optimization, and creation of mammalian cell lines for the manufacture of biologic drug substances. You will contribute to the design and execution of laboratory experiments, data analysis, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory experiments to support mammalian cell line development and upstream process development.
  • Utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) for data analysis and experimental design.
  • Coordinate and execute all phases of the CLD process, collaborating with downstream, analytical and formulation teams.
  • Work cross-functionally with analytical development, MSAT, manufacturing and quality teams to drive successful technology transfer.
  • Translate client amino acid sequences into nucleotide FASTA files to expedite DNA ordering process.
  • Prepare buffers, media, and other solutions according to SOPs and protocols.
  • Operate and maintain cell line development equipment including electroporation, single cell dispensing, and imaging equipment.
  • Program and operate ambr250 microbioreactor system.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; maintain accurate lab records and electronic notebooks.
  • Present findings in internal and client meetings.
  • Author technical reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Complete Root Cause Analyses as needed, implementing corrective and preventative actions as needed.
  • Mentor junior scientists and research associates in daily activities, data trending and data analysis.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or related field.
Experience:
  • 4 - 8 years of hands-on experience in a bioprocessing or biopharmaceutical development environment (academic or industrial); some education qualifications may substitute for some years of experience.
  • 4 - 8 years of experience with mammalian stable cell line generation is required.
  • Familiarity with transposon-based expression systems is a plus.
  • Experience in a CDMO environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of protein purification and analytical techniques is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of cGMP, GLP, or other regulatory standards is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform lab-based tasks, including standing for long periods, working with various laboratory equipment, and handling biological samples.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment, reagents, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • This position requires flexibility in working hours, including potential shift work, weekends, on-call duties and holidays as necessary.
