Job summary

Lochner is seeking a Full-Time Construction Inspector in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will possess over 7 years of experience in construction inspection on DOT projects and a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities
  • Supervises subordinate inspectors responsible for monitoring work quality and performance.
  • Reviews project activities with contractor's field supervision to resolve disputes and other project issues.
  • Reads and interprets contract plans and specifications.
  • Interprets construction contract language.
  • Possesses current material testing certifications as applicable for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pile driving, drilled shafts, etc.
  • Conducts material testing and documents acceptance.
  • Inspects and documents contractors’ quality of work.
  • Reviews, coordinates, and prepares responses to project correspondence, RFIs and technical submittals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of CEI and construction experience on road and bridge infrastructure DOT projects are preferred.
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts as required on assigned projects.
  • Requires progressive work related experience.
  • Ability to gather and understand technical data for purposes of generating advanced technical reports.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction practices and principles.
  • Ability to interpret plans, standards and specifications.
  • Good understanding of construction specifications and plans.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of DOT specification and standards is required.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team of inspectors.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
