Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Section Head in its Herndon office to lead the CEI Team, overseeing staff, budget, and business development for the discipline at the local level.

The role emphasizes coordinating growth plans, staffing, and delivering proposals while providing technical leadership to project managers and staff. Strong PM and BD experience and a civil engineering background are required.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• 10+ years’ experience in the specialized discipline.
• Project management and business development experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders.
• Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development.
• Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to the production of proposals.
• Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff.
• Establish resources staffing needs for the section.
• Interview and hire staff for the section.
• Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams.
