Jacobs in the Daytona Beach, FL area is seeking an experienced CEI Inspector to join our FDOT highway team. You will work with our technical experts to support inspection activities and mentoring less experienced professionals while ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Requirements include a High School diploma, roadway or bridge project experience, valid driver's license, and CTQP Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work by the contractor.
  • Review and recommend accepting or rejecting daily reports submitted by the contractor.
  • Performs inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures.
  • Performs material testing and verifies procedures comply with the Quality Control Plan.
  • Reviews material testing procedures and results for conformity to the contract.
  • May be required to perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.

Main Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work by the contractor
  • Review and recommend accepting or rejecting daily reports submitted by the contractor
  • Performs inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures
  • Performs material testing and verifies that procedures are in conformance with the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
  • Reviews material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measures quantities of materials placed.
  • May be required to perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • High School diploma
  • Previous experience working on roadway or bridge projects
  • Valid State’s driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check
  • CTQP Certification
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • A technical school graduate or have a degree related to Engineering or Construction Management but not mandatory.
Essential Functions

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, work near construction equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, potential work at heights and be able to work day, nights or weekends.

The base salary range for this position is $59,000.00 to $60,320.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
