Job summary

Harper College Community Music and Arts Center is seeking a harmonica instructor to provide private lessons to children and adults. The position is expected to start in Spring 2026, in-person, with both private and group classes, and may include weekend teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of the instrument and successful prior teachingexperience are required. Experience and passion for working withvarious age groups. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Harper College Community Music and Arts Center seeks aharmonica instructor to provide private lessons to children andadults. This position is expected to start during the Spring of2026. It depends on enrollment and involves in-person private andgroup classes, and may include teaching on weekends. Teach individual weekly lessons to non-credit adult students andoccasionally children enrolled in the Community Music and ArtsCenter programs (30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute lessons).Teach group harmonica classes. Organize and maintain a consistentteaching schedule. Reach out to parents or students to arrange forlessons. Prepare lesson plans and provide student assessments.Participate in recruitment activities both inside and outside theschool. Prepare students for performances and attend recitals.Integrate technology into instruction. Must attend department,faculty, and Community Education meetings when requested.
