Harper College Community Music and Arts Center is seeking a harmonica instructor to provide private lessons to children and adults. The position is expected to start in Spring 2026, in-person, with both private and group classes, and may include weekend teaching.
You will teach individual weekly lessons and group classes, organize a consistent schedule, and reach out to families to arrange lessons, while preparing plans and assessments and participating in recruitment activities to support the
Knowledge of the instrument and successful prior teachingexperience are required. Experience and passion for working withvarious age groups. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts anddemonstrate playing techniques to students of different ages,backgrounds, and experience levels. Must have a solid commitment toteaching and a genuine interest in the life-long musicaldevelopment of individual students. Must be responsive to inquiriesabout harmonica lessons and willing to call potential and currentstudents to follow up, answer questions, and arrange lessons. Mustrespond quickly to emails from the coordinator. Must have apositive attitude, excellent communication skills, high standardsfor quality, and good judgment. The ability to teach otherinstruments is a plus.

Teach individual weekly lessons to non-credit adult students andoccasionally children enrolled in the Community Music and ArtsCenter programs (30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute lessons).Teach group harmonica classes. Organize and maintain a consistentteaching schedule. Reach out to parents or students to arrange forlessons. Prepare lesson plans and provide student assessments.Participate in recruitment activities both inside and outside theschool.
